Karanthai Tamil Sangam was founded by Thiru.T.V.Radhakrishna Pillai B.A.,B.L.,to be the president of Karanthai Tamil Sangam, to which latter agreed. Thereafter,Umamaheswaranar added fame and glory to the presidentship of Sangam. Umamaheswaranar dedicated his sprit and soul to the development of this Sangam. As a mark of respect for all the selfless services and total dedication towards Umamaheswaranar Pillai was honoured with the title Tamilavel Cheiftain of Tamil, in 1938.Karanthai Tamil sangam serves the society through the following institutions: Radhakrishna Elementary School, Umamaheswara Higher secondary School, Tamilavel Umamaheswaranar Karanthai Arts College, Pazhanisamy Pillai Industrial Training Institute, Umamaheswara College of Education, Umamaheswara Teacher Training Institute, Umamaheswara Primary Teacher Training Institute.
