The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow is one of the premier central Universities in the country. The jurisdiction of this residential University is over the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is a Central University, established on 10th January 1996. The 250 acres' University campus named 'Vidya Vihar' is located off the Raebareli road, about 10 Km. south of Charbagh, the main Railway Station of Lucknow. As one of the chief objectives of the University to cater to, and promote, the educational needs of the marginalized people, particularly the SC/ST communities and WomenThese departments offer Post-Graduate Courses. Each department is also offering Ph.D. Programme. The students are admitted through All India Entrance Test conducted at different centres purely on the basis of merit subject to the reservation policy of the University. In addition to above departments, we have proposed to develop some more new Post-Graduate departments during XI plan which not only have employment potential but also relevant for the socio-economic development of the country. We have built-up some good infrastructure such as Administrative Block, School buildings, Women Cell, Day Care Centre, BBAU Service Scheme, NCC, Laboratories including Computer labs, Library, Students Hostel, Guest House, VC residence, staff quarters etc. on the Campus during IX & X Five year Plans with the support of University Grants Commission and we plan to develop it further during the XI Five year Plan for conducting more academic programmes effectively.
